Originally from Sydney, Serena started out as a dancer, completing three years of full-time dance training before being introduced to circus through a specialist stream that added aerial, acrobatics and contortion to her weekly training.
Since then, she has built experience across performance and coaching, including contortion and dance roving, aerial competitions, and teaching in dance studios, schools and fitness spaces. Her background spans dance technique, aerial, acrobatics, gymnastics, Pilates, reformer Pilates and kids yoga. In 2023, she became the La Folie national champion in the debut silks category.
Quiet and understated by nature, Serena brings a calm, gentle presence to class. She is especially good at helping students build trust in themselves, and loves seeing people tick off goals, grow in confidence and realise they’re capable of more than they thought. Her coaching is supportive and patient, though the soft energy can occasionally hide some very juicy conditioning and technique drills.
On stage, another side of Serena appears. Her movement becomes expressive, striking and full of character, with a strong sense of storytelling running through the performance. It’s a lovely contrast to the quiet Serena you meet in class.
Outside the studio, Serena spends time with her cat, Sage.
Fun fact
Serena’s hair is so long that it occasionally gets caught in places hair really has no business being. 😆
