Why calisthenics
Your body is the equipment.
Calisthenics uses your own bodyweight as resistance. Pushing, pulling, squatting, hanging and holding: simple movements that are hard to do well.
Move better
Whole-body movements build strength you can actually use, along with the joint control and mobility to back it up.
Get strong
Bodyweight work is tougher than it looks. Every drill can be made harder, so you never run out of challenge.
Stay motivated
Each session has a clear focus, and small progressions add up. You’ll notice the difference week to week.
In the class
What a class looks like.
Every class is coached and built around movement drills that are guaranteed to challenge you, whatever your level. No fancy tricks needed to join in.
01 · Warm up
Prep & prehab
Joint warm-ups for the shoulders, wrists and hips, plus prehab work that builds a body ready for the training, and keeps it that way.
02 · The main work
Stations or skill drills
Depending on the class, it’s a circuit of around 8 stations (push, pull, legs and core) that works the whole body, or 4–5 focused skill drills.
03 · Scaled to you
Your version of every drill
Each drill has easier and harder options. Your coach helps you find the one that’s right for today.
One studio, more ways to move
Strength is just the beginning.
Calisthenics pairs well with our other movement classes, and every membership covers them all.

Questions
Before your first class.
Anything else? Get in touch and we’ll help you find the right class.
Do I need a membership?
No. You can drop in to any class without one. If you come regularly, a 10-pass or membership works out cheaper.
Do I need to be able to do a pull-up?
No. Plenty of people start without one. Your coach will give you a version of each exercise that suits where you're at, and building that first pull-up is a great goal.
I already train at the gym. Will I be challenged?
Yes. Bodyweight drills done well are hard work, and every one can be made harder. Expect to be challenged.
Which class should I start with?
Start with any calisthenics class. Each coach has their own style, some run stations and some focus on skill drills, so try a few. Drop in, or use the Intro Pass if you're new.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in. We mostly train barefoot. Bring water and a towel.
Is this a separate gym?
No. It's all The Movement Academy: the same studio, coaches, timetable and memberships, whether you come for calisthenics or aerial.
